HISTORY

In 1973, a high school football coach gave two brothers part time cleaning jobs with his small company Midwest Janitorial Service. As with most brothers, competition quickly got the best of them and they quickly began to leap frog up the Midwest Janitorial Service ladder. In 1977 a third brother joined them with the opening of Midwest Janitorial Supply Company. MJS was now able to offer their clients high quality cleaning products and janitorial supplies for their facilities in addition to their excellent service.

For eight years the brothers helped Midwest Janitorial Service and Supply grow from a single office in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to spanning across the entire state. In 1981 with the retirement of the company's founder, Craig and Bruce Hotchkiss purchased Midwest Janitorial Service and Supply and took the once modest commercial cleaning company to a nationally ranked total facility management operation.

From its conception in 1958 MJS has always functioned as a family and that philosophy is just as important to us today over 60 years later. We are very proud to say that we are still entirely family owned and operated. With our considerable growth over the many years our dedication to the MJS family has allowed us to offer our clients the resources of a large commercial cleaning corporation with the continued personal service and quality of the small janitorial service company we began as.
