GENERAL INFORMATION

The position is responsible for general cleaning and maintenance of building.  Regularly cleans work areas and common areas throughout the building.  This includes, but is not limited to restrooms, floors, vacuuming, trash removal, etc.

 

Much of the work is performed in commercial, retail or medical facilities. We do provide service to some industrial facilities.

There is exposure to cleaning compounds that could affect those with allergies to cleaning products.

 

Physical demands may occur that are not listed here, but should be anticipated based on the job description as defined by the United States Department of Labor (DOL) - Most janitors and building cleaners work indoors. However, some work outdoors part of the time, sweeping walkways, mowing lawns, and shoveling snow. Since office buildings are often cleaned while they are empty, many cleaners work evening hours. The work can be physically demanding and sometimes dirty and unpleasant…They spend most of the day walking, standing, or bending while cleaning; and sometimes they must move or lift heavy supplies and equipment. As a result, the work may be strenuous on the back, arms, and legs. Some tasks, such as cleaning restrooms and trash areas, can be dirty and unpleasant.

Must pass background and have reliable transportation.  Must be able to read and/or understand GHS safety requirements and to follow directions and instructions. Wage varies by facility assigned. Facilities that offer a Performance/Attendance Bonus require a highly detailed, reliable person. Clients paying for this incentive expect the highest level of service.
