If you develop symptoms, you must notify HR immediately.  Call 800-249-6161  and press 1 or email humanresources@mjsia.com.  If possible, please complete a LEAVE REQUEST form.

Current symptoms reported for patients with COVID-19 have included mild to severe respiratory illness. Symptoms may include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath / Difficulty Breathing
  • Sore Throat
  • Chills
  • Repeated Shaking with Chills
  • Muscle Pains

At this time, it seems that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or if 14 days after exposure. To date, cases have been linked with recent travel to areas where there have been documented outbreaks, or direct contact with those who have recently traveled there. If your community has experience community spread, your risk of contracting the virus is increased.

Some have expressed additional symptoms which have not been confirmed by the CDC to include:

  • Nasal Congestion
  • Diarrhea

WHAT GUIDANCE DOES THE CDC GIVE ON PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF THE 2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS?

You can help prevent yourself from getting and spreading the Wuhan coronavirus–and other respiratory illnesses–by following these steps:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Use 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Close contact includes kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or shirt sleeve, not your hands. Dispose of the tissue.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.

FACILITIES - FAQ

WHAT IF WE HAVE A SUSPECTED/CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE CONFIRMED?

CDC Guidelines

It is recommended to close off areas used by the ill persons and wait as long as practical before beginning cleaning and disinfection to minimize potential for exposure to respiratory droplets. Open outside doors and windows to increase air circulation in the area. If possible, wait up to 24 hours before beginning cleaning and disinfection.

I WANT TO ADD EXTRA DISINFECTING SERVICE.  HOW DO I DO THIS?

MJS would be happy to put together a work order for you to add disinfecting services. MJS is also recommending that your staff is also disinfecting multiple times throughout the day. If MJS is the only one doing the disinfecting, it will not be as effective as surfaces become contaminated when they are touched – many areas will need regular disinfecting many times throughout the day.

MJS is trying to hire temporary employees should your current custodian become unable to accommodate the extra time required. MJS is offering overtime hours to all employees and we will start as soon as we possibly can.  Unfortunately, due to staffing, we are unable to provide a specific start day today.

CAN I BUY WIPES, SANITIZER OR DISINFECTANT?

MJS is currently out of stock of all sanitizers and disinfectants for resale.  Manufacturers are estimating supplies will be ready again sometime in late April to early May.  Please note that our standard sanitizer is not alcohol based.  Please note that the CDC is not the regulatory agency for antimicrobial hand hygiene products and without specific regulatory or statutory requirements cited, these should be viewed as recommendations:

Antimicrobial hand hygiene products are regulated by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  The FDA monograph (the FDA’s set of rules and regulations) specifies the acceptable active ingredients and their use level. The two most popular on the market today are Ethanol (Alcohol) and Benzalkonium Chloride.

FDA's guidance documents do not establish legally enforceable responsibilities.  The FDA’s states these should be viewed only as recommendations, unless specific regulatory or statutory requirements are cited.

Hand hygiene is an important part of the U.S. response to COVID-19. Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is essential, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing, sneezing or blowing one’s nose.

IF OUR OFFICE ENCOUNTERS A CASE OF COVID-19 WHAT WILL YOU DO?

MJS expects our facilities to notify MJS customer service immediately if there is a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.  Call 800-249-6161 and email customerservice@mjsia.com immediately.

MJS expects that common courtesy is extended to our employees just as it would to your own employees to protect the health and welfare of everyone that may encounter the facility and/or individuals. Failure to notify MJS may result in termination of services and/or legal action if applicable.

MJS will notify our staff immediately.   If the MJS employee does not want to return to the facility, MJS cannot require them to do so. MJS will do our best to get staff in the facility as soon as possible.

MJS will require a deep disinfecting work order over and above what we are currently providing for all facilities with a confirmed case. There may be circumstances where a delay in services is required and your facility will be notified if this is the case.

MY CURRENT CUSTODIAL STAFF WON’T CLEAN, CAN YOU PROVIDE TEMPORARY SERVICES?

Current MJS clients have to come first. MJS can attempt to provide your facility with temporary staffing, but as the environment is changing on a daily basis, we are unable to guarantee any assistance.

WILL MJS BE ABLE TO PROVIDE TRAVEL INFORMATION FOR MJS EMPLOYEES IN YOUR FACILITY?

MJS will not be able to get this information for every facility.  However, it is up to each facility to determine if they wish to request a self-attestation completed prior to entrance.  If your facility chooses to impose a self-attestation, please notify MJS HR by calling 800-249-6161 or humanresources@mjsia.com and we will provide that information to our staff.
